‘Sports’ mode is supposed to pre-set ISO to high & shutter speed to fast. But as of version 4.2.2, it’s still based on metering like in Auto mode & it doesn’t bias to high ISO & fast shutter.

Instead, it relies on the flash to “freeze” the motion. Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, if the subject is beyond the range of the flash, you’re going to get massive motion blur! Coupled with the fact that the image processor sometimes get the Flash luminance value off all makes this mode less than useful.
